How We Joined the Doggie Brigade

This is a timeline showing the steps it took to reach our goal of becoming active members of the Akron Children's Doggie Brigade! Keep in mind that if you are not an active volunteer or employee of the hospital, you may have an additional step or two...


January 2011 - Completed Volunteer Application and Doggie Brigade Application. [To get an application, call the Volunteer Office at 330.543.8424 or download an application from the website: ACH Volunteer Office

February 13, 2011 - Attended 8 hour Delta Workshop at Akron Children's Hospital (* Please note that if you are not a hosital employee, you will also need to attend a Volunteer Orientation Workshop)

February 24, 2011 - Visit to Vet for Health Screening and Cultures (Handler is responsible for Office Visit but Culture testing is paid for by the DB Fund)

February 25, 2011 - Took Culture Swabs to Akron Children's Outpatient Lab for testing

March 12, 2011 - Delta Registration Packet completed

March, 12, 2011 - Delta Society Pet Partners Test!!!

April 11, 2011 - Mentoring Session 1 with Mentor's Dog

April 23, 2011 - Mentoring Session 2 with Mentor's Dog



May 7, 2011 - Mentoring Session 3 with Gilda!

May 23, 2011 - {Final} Mentoring Session 4 with Gilda!!

August 25, 2011 - Trading Cards arrive and Framed 8x10 is displayed in the hospital!



September 20, 2011 - Received our official Delta Society Dog Tag and ID Photo.
